All’s well at Waterford Park
The decision to purchase a villa at Waterford Park marked the end of a long search for Bill and Barbara Armer and, now that they are well and truly settled in their new home, the couple couldn’t be happier.
“We are enormously pleased to have chosen Waterford Park. I think we are both just proud knowing that we made the right decision,” said Bill. “Since moving in, we have been nothing but impressed with our villa and new lifestyle.”
And the Armers are making the most of their new lifestyle. The couple are keen gardeners, walk 6km around the golf course every day and Bill will soon take up playing golf.
“There is so much on offer at Waterford Park – the surroundings are perfect for getting outdoors and keeping fit and healthy,” said Bill. “But the village also has a very relaxed environment and the sense of camaraderie among residents is fantastic. We have made some great friends.”
The lifestyle at Waterford Park offers residents both privacy and independence. Yet help is always on hand with a 24-hour emergency call system and the companionship of a close-knit community.
What’s more, the security of Waterford Park means that residents can go on holiday reassured that their house will be looked after while they are away. The next stages of development are underway at Waterford Park and on completion a mix of two, three and four-bedroom villas will offer more than 160 residences at the village.
In addition to the golf course, residents will be able to access other facilities such as tennis courts, a bowling green, gym, indoor swimming pool, spa and a wellness centre.

When Val Worrell made the decision to move to Knoxfield retirement community Waterford Park a little over six months ago, she knew it would bring a number of benefits.
But perhaps the best part about the move is that it’s brought Val a lot closer to the Knox Athletics Field – right across the road in fact.
A champion hammer thrower, Val trains up to six times per week. And with next year’s World Masters Games in Sacramento fast approaching, Val will be spending a lot more time at the athletics track in the months to come.
“I was a discus thrower when I was younger and I started throwing competitively again about fifteen years ago. My husband was an athlete but he injured himself falling off a roof and could no longer compete, so I took up the sport again so he could still be involved and he took on the role of my coach,” Val said.
“Although my husband has now passed away I have continued to compete because I know that he would want me to.”
Val holds the Australian and World records for the Hammer Throw and Weight Throw in her age group and recently returned from the Oceania Masters Games in Tahiti, where she brought home six medals for the hammer throw, shot put, discus, javelin, weight throw and weight pentathlon events.
“The Oceania Games were a fantastic experience - I generally compete once a month in Melbourne and I also travel to major events throughout the year,” Val said.
“The last Masters Games I travelled to were in Italy which was incredible. It’s a great thrill to compete at such a high level and it’s also fantastic to be able to see new parts of the world and meet new friends.
“I worked in sports administration for many years and exercise has always been a big part of my life – I firmly believe it keeps you young in body and mind.”
When she’s not busy training and competing Val coaches other up-and-coming athletes and she also enjoys playing golf and taking part in the social and recreational activities on offer at Waterford Park.
“I was visiting friends at the village last year and I had no intention of moving, but when I saw the village I immediately thought what a lovely place it would be to live. As soon as I got home I rang my family and told them I was selling my business and house and moving to Waterford Park,” she said.
“At first my son thought I would get bored, but between my training and other social activities, I often find there aren’t enough days in the week. I haven’t looked back for a second.”
